Challenges facing the client:

  • Mid cap country fund spin-out of well know private equity house, with good attributable track record of the founders, but:
  • First institutional and international fundraising
  • Presence of sponsor with significant portion of carry
  • All in all, the typical first time fund with all the ingredients of potential success but still unproven in the new setting, team structure, organisation, etc.

Acanthus’ role:

  • Mandated during the fundraising process for Fund I
  • Took charge of fundraising process, revisiting investors previously contacted and adding new contacts in the light of new deals completed by team since first closing. Provided morale booster and coaching to team, ultimately leading to final closing ahead of target
  • Currently carrying out investor relations programme combined with team advisory role as counsellors and sounding board
  • Preparing the ground for pre-marketing and marketing of Fund II
