We are pleased to announce the merger of Acanthus and MMC Advisers creating an independent corporate finance advisory firm focused on private equity, providing fund placement and corporate advisory services.
The combined business will operate under the Acanthus name. The merger is the culmination of a successful joint venture between the two businesses established in 2002 which evolved from a long standing working relationship. It brings together Acanthus' strengths and reputation in the fund placement business with MMC Advisers' growing presence in small to mid-cap corporate advisory business and a common focus on private equity. Acanthus' client base will benefit from the enlarged team's extensive experience in meeting the advisory needs of the private equity community throughout Europe over many years.
Acanthus professionals have provided advisory services to a significant number of private equity firms and their portfolio companies over the years. We are currently working with a number of fund placement and corporate advisory clients, a selection of which are detailed below.
Financial adviser and placement agent - currently raising €80-110 million for a fund focused principally on investment in small and medium sized private companies in Northern Italy. Natexis Cape is a successful and growing private equity firm based in Milan. Since its inception in 1999, it has advised three pools of funds.
Financial adviser to HTC Healthcare plc, a leading daycare nursery operator trading under the brand "'Happy Times". Currently closing a further significant expansion capital package.
Following a successful fund raising in 2002, we continue to act as financial adviser to Perfectis Private Equity, the advisor to Perfectis I FCPR, an €80 million fund focused on the underserved French mid/small cap segment. Between 1990 and 2000 the Perfectis investment team worked at 3i France where they were responsible for investing in more than 40 mid/small companies, achieving top quartile investment returns over the period.

Its private equity solutions take the form of funds of funds and other investment programmes such as managed accounts and advisory mandates. With a track record stretching back to 1988, Westport was the first private equity fund of funds manager in Europe and its team includes some of the world's longest-standing professionals in private equity investing.
Financial adviser and placement agent - Triangle Venture Capital Group is a German based venture capital partnership focused on investing in early stage companies primarily active in the information and communication technology and medical devices industries. It currently manages €23.6 million of funds and is raising Triangle IV.
Financial adviser and placement agent - Pragma Capital is a French mid-market private equity group which has raised some €300 million for Pragma FCPR to date. Pragma was established in 2002 by four founding partners who had worked together over many years whilst at Crédit Agricole's private equity division, Union d'Etudes et d'Investissements, and Crédit Lyonnais.
